I love life. Yesterday we had one of the most efficient days of my mission this far. It felt so good. We just turned ourselves over to the Lord! We talked with everyone and opened our mouths and straight up preached! I love I preach my gospel in chapter 9 it says:
"you will need to be able to present a message in a minute or less... Avoid the tendency to say things such as, “Do you have a few minutes that we could teach you a message about …” Rather, develop the habit of immediately beginning to teach and testify as you meet people." We took this to heart yesterday and it was awesome. We talked to so many cool people! We have this thing called a New York minute. You basically just jump right in to teaching the message of the restoration! I love talking to people and letting them hold a copy of the fresh off the press book of Mormon. We'll ask them to read part of the introduction or a verse that is applicable to them and watching their expressions! It's so cool! I was reading Alma chapter 17 this morning and just to do a little recap of the story, there are Nephites and Lamanites. Nephites are good, Lamanites are bad. Ammon and his brothers who are Nephites, go and decide to preach the gospel to the Lamanites. Who, as they describe them in the scriptures, murder and plunder so they don't have to labor with their own hands. Ammon makes his way over into the Lamanites land and the Lamanites capture him, tie him up, and bring him before the King. The kings name is Lamoni. He will decide whether or not Ammon will be killed. Ammon tells the king that he wants to stay around and be his servant. The King likes the idea of that and lets him be his servant. At this point there is a trend in the fields. The servants who watch over King Lamoni's sheep in the field always get killed because this group of Lamanites from another tribe keep coming over and scattering their flocks. 27 Therefore, as Ammon and the servants of the king were driving forth their flocks to this place of water, behold, a certain number of the Lamanites, who had been with their flocks to water, stood and scattered the flocks of Ammon and the servants of the king, and they scattered them insomuch that they fled many ways. 28 Now the servants of the king began to murmur, saying: Now the king will slay us, as he has our brethren because their flocks were scattered by the wickedness of these men. And they began to weep exceedingly, saying: Behold, our flocks are scattered already. 29 Now they wept because of the fear of being slain. Now when Ammon saw this his heart was swollen within him with joy; for, said he, I will show forth my power unto these my fellow-servants, or the power which is in me, in restoring these flocks unto the king, that I may win the hearts of these my fellow-servants, that I may lead them to believe in my words. I love this! When things go wrong we can always rejoice! We know how to be agents for change and use our agency go always get back up. I love you all and I love this restored gospel!!! Elder Murray
